It’s been some years since we got married. Loads have happened since; loads are still to happen. But that particular moment when we got married in front of God and Man was quite fun.
This is not unique to us. Over 75 billion humans have lived since homo sapiens have come into existence a million years ago; also we have had 7,500 years of human civilization where some form of marriage rituals have taken place.
So we are not unique. Also, we got into this not knowing exactly what we are getting ourselves into. That was not unique as well.
The fates of love and life must have laughed when they got this marriage done. Two humans completely opposite in nature, word, and deed bound together by their love of food and travel.
It was not easy; neither was it difficult. This journey was somewhat in-between; crazy behaviors tempered with the thought that love can conquer all; Stupid actions that can break a seasoned mind being acted out because the love was supposed to be strong.
I am pretty sure none of the above is unique; it’s been done for so long for so many different people. Maybe that’s why the institution of love survived.
I never believed in marriage. It’s a legal term having good tax benefits. It makes good fiscal sense to get married. But falling in love; that’s a different ball game altogether.
Staying in love? That’s one of the crazier concepts ever created by the human mind.
Life is crazy. Our love not so much. Because in the end, you are the most unique of them all.
My wife, the mother of my daughter, I love you.
