I am a human with thoughts within and actions without. I understand how the world works and how to earn my keep. I know how to fall in love and how to control my anger. I know that someday I am going to die.

There was many before me and there will be many after. But I am one living here now at this point in time. I know not all human knowledge but I know of human emotion. I know not of philosophy but I do know a mother’s embrace and a father’s unrequited love. I know not of leadership but I do understand and feel hope.

In life, I know of death but I know not if there is life after death. I know of the cosmos but I know not of the consciousness inside me. I know of the infinite space around me but I know not of the finite space that I am bound to occupy.

Did the cave man think these things? Did he feel love? Did he feel a sense of foreboding as he invented the fire? Did he feel a sense of elation as he invented the wheel? Did he know who he was? What he meant for himself and humanity as a whole?

I know not of the answers. If only the cave man could talk.
